            How interesting that in a representative republic we Americans are so prone to whine about the people we elect to represent us. As the bosses of our elected officials, we run this business called America like children with naughty parents, while we are the parents of children that are allowed to run free.

           Where does your loyalty lie? Do you volunteer with the reward of helping others? Are you in the game for self-serving interest? Would you step over your friends as well as constituents for power, greed, and political expediency? In this most contentious of election seasons, tempers and emotions are begun to flare, even amongst the most like-minded of individuals. Recently, I began to reflect on my first year and a half with the Osceola County Republican Executive. From that first day through the present, my feelings towards on loyalty as well as my own personal ambitions have changed in a very profound way.

Do You Really Know Your Candidate? Print E-mail

The 2008 elections are looming closer and closer.  I felt the need to write this letter to the editor to possibly spark attention to the character of those seeking our votes.

Things have changed dramatically since our country was founded.  The founding fathers knew that anyone holding public office, whether local, state, or federal government needed to have good moral character.  That could be judged only by how the individual acted in private life, and if he believed and followed Godly principles.  They knew that private life was and is a window to ones true character.
