The Response to "Last Eight Years" Letter in the Osceola News-Gazette 1-29-09

To the editor:

In the January 15th edition in the letters section I noticed a letter "These last eight years" by Elaine Ramsey and I just could not help but feel all the built up and misguided hatred in her letter.

I always thought liberals were kinder and gentler than that. I would just like to remind her that the presidents that put her husband in the foxhole in Anzio and her son in Vietnam were all her kind and gentler Democrats: Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson, and it also took a Republican like Richard Nixon to get us out of Vietnam.

If John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson had done their jobs, there would have been no Bay of Pigs disaster and no Cuban Missile Crisis and no lives would have been lost in Vietnam.

If Jimmy Carter had done his job, we would have had no double-digit mortgage interest rates, gas lines, Ayatollah Khomeini or American hostages in Iran.

If Bill Clinton had done his job, there would have been no 9-11 and Osama Bin Laden would have been in prison or executed.

George W. Bush has kept us safe, and all the liberal hatred from Hollywood and the mainstream media and others cannot change that.
